YOUTH EMPLOYMENT
Full Cycle offers employment opportunities for unhoused youth ages 16-24. While employed at Full Cycle, youth can learn basic bike mechanics and give back to the community through food distribution and delivery while acquiring job readiness skills. Our goal is to help young people obtain the knowledge, connection, and the stability they need to be successful in future employment. Prior mechanics or job experience is NOT required.
Check out our apprenticeships below. If you're interested in applying, Download the Application (PDF) or Apply Online.
Shop Apprenticeship
In the shop apprenticeship program, we teach an introduction to the basic systems of the bikes and the proper use of tools required to repair a bicycle. We focus on foundational concepts that youth are able to build upon throughout their employment. While honing their mechanic skills, youth mechanics spend equal time focusing on basic professionalism, soft skills and all other aspects of running a bike shop including customer service, point of sales, inventory, cleaning & organizing etc. Equally important, youth employees at Full Cycle are introduced to green strategies and the environmental impact our work as a recyclery has on creating a healthier community and more sustainable planet.
Food Access Apprenticeship
As a recyclery focused on reducing waste through recycling and redistribution, Full Cycle provides paid training opportunities for unhoused young people to help deliver donated food and goods by bicycle to local shelters and transitional living programs.
Peer Outreach Apprenticeship
Full Cycle’s philosophy is rooted in street outreach and the belief that the most genuine and helpful relationships are built on the streets in the communities meeting young people where they exist without judgement or expectations. Peer outreach apprentices will work in collaboration with professional street outreach workers to gain the experience, training, and industry recognized certification necessary to pursue future employment opportunities with a focus on street outreach and youth work.
